An outstanding heat wave occurred in Israel on May 22-24th. Extremely high temperaures were recorded on May 23rd and 24th, some of them were record-breaking. On May 23rd, temperatures reached 43-45?C in many areas: the Coastal Plain, the Judean Foothills, the northern Negev, the Jordan Valley and the Arava.?In the Northern Valleys and the northern Coastal Plain 39-42?C were recorded and in the mountains temperatures reached 35-37?C.?The heat wave continued on May 24th becoming even more intense in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea area and the northern Arava with highs of 45-48?C.
